Percutaneous cholecystostomy tube drainage for non-responsive acute cholecystitis

Admission patterns in our unit shows late presentation of acute calculous cholecystitis.  Although most patients respond to conservative therapy and go on to uncomplicated, interval, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, a subset do not respond and are managed by percutaneous cholecystostomy tube drainage.  This research project that forms part of a master’s degree dissertation looks into the outcome of this cohort.
