The Elderly in Acute Care Surgery

The average life expectancy is South Africa is less than 65 years (World BankĀ®). A subset of our patients in Acute Care Surgery are older than 65, though.
In this research project we aim to identify the differences in perioperative parameters and outcomes comparing this cohort with a matched random selection of younger patients.
Identifying such differences may help us optimize our care for this group.
